What does a Speech Language Therapist at CRHS do?

The Speech Language Therapist role at CRHS is to help with the different aspects of communication: listening, understanding and talking. They are very much part of the team!

The therapists support the teachers and young people who are enrolled at CRHS. Students can be screened by their teacher to determine if there may be any communication needs. Our therapists carry out assessments and give specific advice about what can help with a student’s particular communication need. They may work one to one with a student, run small groups focusing on areas such as social communication skills, or provide strategies for the teacher or young person to use. They also provide training for teaching staff around supporting communication. The therapists can attend IEPs or other meetings, and feed in to the overall education for the young person.
