Te Au rere a te Tonga

Through partnership, and focus on educational purpose, our learning programmes are designed and coordinated to meet individual strengths, needs and aspirations.  Students are supported to take pride in their cultural identity.  Students come to this Oranga Tamariki residence through Youth Justice processes.  With CRHS support they can reengage with education and rediscover the value of learning.

Local curriculum is delivered with a low teacher to student ratio, and is based on the New Zealand Curriculum with a focus on numeracy, literacy, communication and important key competencies for learning and life.

Students work towards credits on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework at NCEA Levels 1-3.  Vocational training enhances potential to gain employment, and is available through Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resourcing (STAR funded courses) and school developed programmes such as café, agriculture, diving, beauty, woodwork and food safety.  Specialist therapeutic and intervention programmes are also woven throughout the school day.

Our students’ interests, aspirations and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
