The CRHS specialist mental health education team provide full-time day programmes for secondary school students. There are three sites within Te Whare o Rangituhi at Kenepuru Hospital, and one community site in Wellington City (CRHS-City).
Students with high mental health needs may be referred to CRHS-City directly from in-patient services at Te Whare o Rangituhi, or through our CRHS Community Health team. To be eligible for admission at CRHS-City, students need to be enrolled with a regular secondary school and be working with a mental health team on an active treatment plan.
The CRHS-City team of teachers, clinicians, and support staff offer two programmes:
- An 8-week assessment programme. Feedback from assessment is provided to the student’s community clinical support teams.
- Students are supported to transition back to their regular school or on to further education, or employment.
The Te Whare o Rangituhi service includes three CRHS sites: The Regional Rangitahi Adolescent Inpatient Service (RRAIS), Hikitia te Wairua and the Ngā Taiohi units. A team of teachers and support staff work alongside clinical teams across these sites to provide educational opportunities for students with mental health conditions in residential care.
